Dr Ian Biddle (University of Newcastle) – His specialist subjects are German music from 1800 to 1945, the music of Eastern Europe from 1877 to 1945, the traditional music of Spain and Portugal, and Anglo-American popular music traditions.

Dr. Line Grenier (Universite de Montreal) – Research relates to the rituals of valorization of popular music in Québec. Her most recent project focused on issues of fame in the Céline Dion phenomenon. Dr Grenier has recently initiated a project on corporate concerts as a terrain to study how music circulates.

Professor Anahid Kassabian (Institute of Popular Music, University of Liverpool) - Research focuses on ubiquitous music; music, sound, and moving images; listening; disciplinarity; music and new technologies, especially games, virtual worlds, and pervasive computing.

Dr. Steve Waksman (Smith College, Massachussets)--Dr Waksman specialises in the study of U.S. popular music and is the author of two books: ‘Instruments of Desire: The Electric Guitar and the Shaping of Musical Experience’ (Harvard, 1999) and ‘This Ain’t the Summer of Love: Conflict and Crossover in Heavy Metal and Punk’ (University of California, 2009). He is researching the history of live music in the U.S. from the 19th century to the present.

There will be live music from Dean Johnson, accompanied by Raphael Callaghan.

The programme will be rounded off by live songs from Jeff Slate (from Badge) who is in Liverpool for the George Harrison tribute at St George's Hall.

CHANGES

This series looks at how the BBC coped with changes in cultural tastes from 1955 to 1980 and it has been written with the help of exclusive files from their written archives. It is being broadcast for six weeks on Sunday afternoons between 4 and 5pm from 29 May on BBC Radio Merseyside. Each episode will be on Listen Again for the following week.

Changes will also be broadcast on Saturday afternoons on BBC Radio Lancashire but the transmission date depends on whether Accrington Stanley have a play off..
